Housebuilding fuels September UK construction bounce

14 Nov 2014

Data released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) today shows that UK construction output grew by 1.8% in September alone, meaning the increase since September 2013 was 3.5%

This was the sixteenth consecutive period of monthly growth

The ONS said that growth was driven by the construction of public new housing, which produced its highest monthly level since 2010, and its highest quarterly level since the series began in 1997

The figures ease fears about a wider slowdown in UK economic activity, which seems to be coping well despite weak growth in the Eurozone
